Phase structures of neutral dense quark matter and application to strange stars

چکیده
In the contact interaction model, quark propagator has only one solution, namely, chiral symmetry breaking at vanishing temperature and density in case of physical mass. We generalize condensate feedback onto coupling strength from 2 flavor to 2+1 case, find Wigner solution appears some regions, which enables us tackle phase transition as two-phase coexistences. At finite chemical potential, we analyze conditions electric charge neutrality equilibrium. The four potentials, , are constrained by three conditions, so that independent variable remains: choose average potential free variable. All masses number densities suffer discontinuities point. strange quarks appear after since system needs more energy produce a -quark than an -quark. Taking EOS input, TOV equations solved numerically, show mass–radius relation is sensitive EOS. maximum mass stars not susceptible parameter introduced.

Neutral Dense Quark Matter
The ground state of dense up and down quark matter under local and global charge neutrality conditions with β-equilibrium has at least four possibilities: normal, regular 2SC, gapless 2SC phases, and mixed phase composed of 2SC phase and normal components. The discussion is focused on the unusual properties of gapless 2SC phase at zero as well as at finite temperature.
متن کاملStrange Quark Matter and Compact Stars
Astrophysicists distinguish between three different kinds of compact stars. These are white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes. The former contain matter in one of the densest forms found in the Universe which, together with the unprecedented progress in observational astronomy, makes such stars superb astrophysical laboratories for a broad range of most striking physical phenomena. These r...
متن کاملMetastable strange matter and compact quark stars
Strange quark matter in beta equilibrium at high densities is studied in a quark confinement model. Two equations of state are dynamically generated for the same set of model parameters used to describe the nucleon: one corresponds to a chiral restored phase with almost massless quarks and the other to a chiral broken phase. The chiral symmetric phase saturates at around five times the nuclear ...
متن کاملChromomagnetic Instability and Gluonic Phase in Dense Neutral Quark Matter
The phase structure of hot and/or dense QCD is one of the most exciting current topics in the field of strong interactions. In particular, the properties of cold and dense quark matter are of great interest in astrophysics and cosmology; it is now widely accepted that, at moderate densities of relevance for the interior of compact stars, quark matter is a color superconductor and has a rich pha...
متن کاملDense quark matter in compact stars
The densest predicted state of matter is colour-superconducting quark matter, in which quarks near the Fermi surface form a condensate of Cooper pairs. This form of matter may well exist in the core of compact stars, and the search for signatures of its presence is an ongoing enterprise. Using a bag model of quark matter, I discuss the effects of colour superconductivity on the mass-radius rela...
